Bismillahir-Rahmaanir-Raheem, Alhamdulillah wasSalaatu wasSalaam ‘alaa Rasoolillah, amma ba’d:
You have reached an advertised page for Umm Umar, a female Qur’an teacher for ladies. I specialize in all teaching fields related to the correct recitation of the Book of Allah. This includes how to recite the Qur’an in Arabic, correct tajweed, memorization as well as the 10 modes of recitation. I am fluent in English and Urdu and can understand Arabic.
I first completed memorization of the Qur’an at age 20 by the grace of Allah subhaanahu wa ta’aalaa. I studied at Daar-al-huda school of tahfeez in Jeddah under the tutelage of Ustadhah Kareemah Carol Czerepinski. I went on to teach tajweed at Dar al-huda for 8 years as well as take the position of “wakeelah” in the institute. I was blessed to have earned ijaazah’s in Hafs on ‘Aasim by the way of ash-Shaatibiyyah (the standard method of recitation in the middle east and eastern Muslim countries) and then an ijaazah in Hafs on ‘Aasim by the way of Al-Tayyibah. Recently I was blessed to have completed an ijaazah in the 10 methods of recitation by way of Ash-Shaatibiyyah. I also have ijaazahs in several poems, including the Muqaddimah to Tajweed by Imam ibn al-Jazaree (given to me by Shaykh Ayman Suwaid), as well as the Shaatibiyyah poem and Durrah poem. Apart from reciting to Ustadhah Kareemah, Shaykhah Rehaab Shaqaqee has also listened to my recitation and Shaykh Ayman Suwaid, may Allah preserve them all. I have taught Qur’an reading, tajweed and memorization online for several years as well.
I primarily live in Saudi Arabia while I travel to America during the summer with my husband. For that reason, my time is typically 3 hours ahead of London; 7 hours ahead of East Coast USA; and 7 hours behind Australia.
I myself am a university student, and for that reason I have limited hours and apologize in advance if my availability does not agree with the times you’d like. For that reason also, I may pause teaching during my own testing time. I’m also one teacher, so I apologize again if I do not feel able to accommodate extra students.
My own personal policy is that I do NOT give Quran ijaazah’s over electronic communications, and this is the position of all my former teachers and do not yet make exceptions. I can however tell you if you are ready to work on an ijaazah, insha’Allah, with a qualified teacher elsewhere.
